I have been working as a photographer since 1981, exploring this wonderful world with photography as my passport. I started out as a staff newspaper photographer, one of the best jobs ever!
My life as a freelance photographer began in 1986. My first book, “A Century of Seasons: Colorado’s Centennial Farms & Ranches” told the stories of some of Colorado’s early settlers and was published in 1994 .
The following year, I began an association with the National Geographic Society that continues to this day. I worked on assignment providing photos for travel books in the U.S. and Canada. In 1999 I began traveling to eight countries on the African continent as the photographer for the NGS book, “Africa”, which was a companion piece to the National Geographic/PBS series of the same name. A few years later, I was fortunate enough to be included in a group of the best photojournalists from around the world to work on the historic book, “A Day in the Life of Africa”.
My work is represented by National Geographic Image Collection. Please send any licensing inquiries to ngimagecollection@natgeo.
I have recently joined a small group of international photographers who work on stories and projects about migration and immigration. You can read more about Home Storytellers by clicking here.
